During the 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), a new mixed reality solution called Jio Glass was unveiled. At the event, the company did not disclose details about the pricing and availability of the product. However, they showed a demo of how Jio Glass would work when it was made available to the public.
RIL said the new Jio Glass is designed to enable 3D virtual rooms for teachers and students and to conduct holographic classes through real-time Jio Mixed Reality services. In addition to this, they can also be used to use virtual meetings.
During the demo, Kiran Thomas, President RIL said, “Hello Jio, please call Aakash and Isha.” After which the Jio Glass made a call to Aakash and Isha Ambani. Aakash was shown as a 3D avatar, whereas, Isha joined in using a 2D video call interface.
Jio Glass weights 75 grams and it will have a cable to connect it with smart phones to access the device and internet. It will have 25 in-built apps to conduct reality video meetings and comes with personalized audio.
