TEN HOTTEST BIODIVERSITY HOTSPOTS
HISTORY: Also known as the Sahyadri Mountains. It is situated on the western side of
India. The Western Ghats includes wildlife sanctuaries, national parks, and reserves
and it spread up to many states like Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and
Maharashtra. There are several regions which divided this region into different
parts:
SAHYADRI
KUDERMUKH
NILGIRI
ANAMALAI
PERIYAR
AGASTHAYAMALAI
In 2012, UNESCO
declared these sites as world heritage.
